Yellowstone Academy Reviews
An NPS with problems
This is a public school with a residential program that has a lot of potential. However, in my experience, the Yellowstone Academy never lives up to that potential. A majority of students at the school are placed here at the behest of social services from Montana and Wyoming which results in short stays and creates an atmosphere of just trying to get through the moment with these kids. As a result, their academic standards and expectations are well below grade level.
The biggest problem with the program is the poor management and communication amongst the various departments. Education, Counseling comment nursing, and the residential facilities managements are all separate and don't effectively share knowledge between these departments. The Yellowstone boys and girls ranch is the residential component of the program. If you look up various sites voicing employee concerns, you'll see the staff comments parallel our concerns as parents.
