Lower Grade Hellgate Elementary School Reviews
Hellgate Elementary is a great District. They have had a boom in growth that is nothing short of amazing and how they have dealt with it is incredible. My son is in the third grade, their largest class, and he receives such care and attention to his learning that I cannot say how pleased I am with their results.
I am impressed with how they practice RTI and group kids according to ability and need. The teachers care and appear happy there. I also appreciate that when you walk into classroom, you can see where tax payer money is spent unlike other neighboring districts.
Great school, great teachers, great principals and great students!
The only reason I give this a 2 out of 5 instead of a 1 is because I really do believe they used to be a good school. The principal cares a lot and so do a lot of the teachers. However, when it comes down to bottom line, the school is TOO big. NINE kindergarten classes---seriously? I pulled my girls out of that school due to many, many issues that boiled down to the school being overcrowded. My Kindergartener came home several times being bullied, hurt by other kids. We are talking scratch marks so bad with bruises also. My 2nd grader was not getting her gifted needs met because the school is more focused on those kids who are behind not ahead. I am now looking into a private school which is not fair because we pay a ton of money in taxes that go to Hellgate. We live up Grant Creek and I feel they need another elementary for just Pleasantview and off Expressway neighborhoods as they are STILL growing.
