Yes, this school WAS an amazing place for both kids and parents. Under the loving leadership of Principal Linda Goodman, kids flourished, parents were more than welcome, and teachers were able to do their job unimpeded. Unfortunately, since Mrs. Goodman left, it has been down hill ever since. There have been 2 Principals and 2 Assistant Principals since Mrs. Goodman, and they have been increasingly unwelcoming toward parent volunteers. It's so sad to see a school with such a great reputation and such great teachers run into the ground this way. In fact, many of the great teachers have threatened to leave, which will harm the school even more. Still, many of us parents who have been around for awhile still show up, support the teachers, and advocate for our kids, but morale is low. Taking our complaints and concerns through the "proper channels" has been largely unsuccessful and seems to be a waste of time. Too bad there isn't an administrator in the system who has a real concern for what is happening to our school.

I am a freshman at GVHS and went to Estes K-5 and i had a great time the teachers were awesome... I even the chance to work with the custodian for 2 years before he passed.... The school is amazing and as the parent said yes the school went down the past few years and i have a few reasons why but i wont say but this year the school went back up and is now an excellent school.... I still visit all my old teachers there and they all still work there except 1....I know everyone single staff member there and i can vouch for them and say that they treat you like family and they are AMAZINGLY AWESOME!!! But as i said i am now a Gator and no longer a Marlin but the blood of a Marlin will always flow through my veins....
GO GATORS!!!

Overall the quality of this school has decreased in the last 3 years. I can speculate why, but I won't. I just want to let it be known that there are many things that can go well in a school, like the relationship between parents and administration. This school leaves a lot to be desired in that department. The teachers are showing the stress they are under by changing what we have come to expect at such a school. As a parent who has enjoyed volunteering since 2003, I feel as though we as parents are not being welcomed. This school used to embrace the idea of parents participating in the education of our children...now not so much.

My child was completely transformed at this school, thanks to his amazing 2nd Grade teacher Ms Gorter. He was impossible at home and a nightmare to take with me to visit friends or family. Over the year he spent in her class, the kindness she showed him when he was down, the confidence she gave him when he needed it, the manners she coaxed out of him and the happy smile he always came home with, has given me back my wonderful boy. Thank YOU!!

I think the school is good but I have a daughter that goes there and she is going to be in 1st grade this coming year and they said that they are going to keep a close eye on her this year, they also said that if they see that she is having a hard time that they would give her that extra help that she needs and I hope that they do that

The overall quality of the school is good. There are some good teachers and the atsmophere is nice, clean and organized. The consistency in rules should strengthen, but overall it is a good school.
