H A Harmon Elementary School Reviews
School Staff Is very Rude!!! Wendy in the office needs training in hospitality!! im transforing my kids to a better school!
Wow...I cannot believe what this...parent said about the teachers and staff at Harmon Elementary. Unfortunately, there is a lack of parental volunteers but that doesn't mean that there are bad parents. I do not think that parents are educated in the fact that their involvement does impact their child's education and behavior. Yes, many parents do send their children to school sick because they have to work and they may not have a choice. The nurses and FASA are wonderful at Harmon, and they care a great deal about the students. If a child is truly sick, the teachers will send them to the nurse and then they are sent home. Harmon earned AYP because of all the hard work of the teachers, support staff and because of the kids. They all worked hard to earn it. The parent who wrote such negative comments must have experienced a negative situation, which can happen, but to rate a whole school on one negative parent's comment is wrong. Harmon is a wonderful dedicated school that cares about their students.
I am on the PTA board at Harley Harmon and I feel the comment by the parent on July 17, 2010 is completely unfair an inaccurate. The teachers are very caring and many parents are involved. Tutoring is done at all title one schools as part of the programs requirements. AYP is not easily achieved and schools that do get it should be praised. If that parent were involved in the school and volunteering in the child's class maybe they would have a better experience in school. Also, my child is sent home sick when ever she needs to be as was my son. They were sent to the nurse when ever needed as well. I spent 5-10 hours a week at this school and find this comment offensive.
This is a terrible school. The parents are not involved. The teachers don't care, they are only there to get a paycheck. They do nothing about the kid who sits in class and cusses and disturbs everyone from learning, but the whole class gets punished for that one child. The hispanics send their kids to school sick because it is daycare to them. And if your child is sick, they don't get to go home or even to the nurse office, instead they get to sit outside on a bench until it's time to go in. The only reason they got AYP is because they take the kids who are failing and tutor them for 1- 1 1/2 months to get their grades up. Why? For the money of course. They could care less about your child.
I love the fact that my child has the opportunity to learn spanish. Having a.m. in spanish and p.m. in english; he has shown great improvement academically. Also, he has learned and taught me some spanish.
