Laura Dearing Elementary School
Started my son here today, and I am NOT happy. My son is autistic, and just kind of goes along with what you tell him, so these issues are even huger.....First off when we went to register, we were completely ignored by the staff as they talked to each other casually, then when we DID get someones attention, they BARELY understood english. He apparently has 2 teachers, one day english, one day spanish.........for one thing, I think a kid with special needs needs a little more CONSISTANCY THAN THAT. And another.....we were not told, nor given a choice over him being in a spanish only class half the time. I dont have anything agaist my son learning spanish, but that is a HUGE element of his education that I wasnt told about until he was in it already. For a kid who has a hard time communicating in english, why the HELL would you confuse him with a new language!?!? Then at the end of his first day, I go to pick him up, and I go to the spot where I was told he was going to be waiting....he wasnt there. I was freaking out and caught him JUST before he got on a bus someone was sticking him on, going who knows where....NOT HAPPY, seriously considering homeschooling

ANGELIQUE: I appreciate all the teachers and staff at this amazing school. My son is in Ms. Nelson and Ms. Tinoco's class rooms, he is excelling in all areas. Its such a gift to be taught another language at an early age, what an awesome experience and knowledge to carry on throughout the years. Thank you all !!! GO Dolphins!!!!
