I am a teacher that has joined the staff in the past few years. The information about Whitney has not been updated in the past 7 years. A lot has changed in that time. Our test scores are still not the greatest but they keep improving every year. We have a very high transiency rate, so our students are not as consistent as neighboring schools. Of the students that have been at our school from kindergarten through fifth grade, 90% are at the proficient level upon entering middle school.
Overall, the teachers truly care about their students. We work to help them to succeed and thrive as learners. I am very critical about my profession and take it very seriously. In the least few years, there has been a major turnover in the staff and thus much growth has occurred to improve it.
OK to start with this school thinks every family in the school is having problems I'm not talking bad about the ones that are but the school can't just think that just because the neberhood. My kids both went to this school for a year they both were in fourth grade and I had to move them because of the learning in this school is not good. It is true that the principle cares about the family's in money trouble and stuff do this is a good school for help but not one to learn. So I would have to give this school a 3 star.=.(
