Clifford O Findlay Middle School Reviews
Both of my children have attended Findlay MS. My son started the 6th grade in Roy Martin Magnet school. They did not enforce their own policy so I transferred him to Findlay MS in 2009. He excelled with the help as a team and the faculty and staff went out their way to help him in grade 6, 7 and 8th. His grades improved significantly and was even a student aide. They loved him after he got his act together. My son was so proud of his accomplishments as we are too. Every time I was there they would always tell me "we wish we had 1500 students like your son". He now attends High School at a Magnet school, NWTCA, specializing in Culinary Arts. When my daughter started in the 6th grade in 2011 she had many behavioral problems that needed addressing. Yes, she went to behavioral school for 2 months. Not Findlay MS fault. She is returning to Findlay this year for 8th grade, and I have no doubt that she will succeed there if SHE makes the choice to. Once again the school did everything they can to help out and always returned my calls, or attended the Parent teacher conferences. They have after school programs to help the kids, teachers stay after school on their own time to help the kids and they also have tutors, learning lab and hour power. BUT the kids must use the tools that are provided to them.
I am reading a lot of complaints on here about the dress code. Neither one of my kids have EVER been in trouble over the dress code. Know why? Because I made sure that they wear what they were suppose to wear. That is MY job as a Parent. If you were against it you should have voted on it. You must involve yourself in your children's education by working with the school, and their policies. Your children's education should be the highest priority to you and your child. Complaining about the dress code and not placing the energy in their academics is sad ,as that is one of the things you have direct control over as a parent.
The schools are not their to raise your children while they receive a free education. Whoever said that the school is more concerned with the noise level, and not on learning please tell me where you can work and be as loud as you want?? How about a dress code in the work force. Most work places have a dress code, and a behavior policy too. It's not the schools fault when children do not listen to authority or respect the teachers. When your child refuses to stop talking in class, it disrupts and effects the entire classrooms education. You are setting your children up for failure if you do not teach them to follow the basic rules, and have not only common sense, but also common courtesy. If kids could make good choices they wouldn't need parent(s). If you do not deal with your children's behavior and lack of authority now, society will when they are older. They also have dress codes for adults that violate societies rules..all orange jumpsuits.
My son is a seventh grader at Findlay. AS for the teachers of this school most seem to sincerely care and to give all the efforts towards our children's education, but they like the children are hindered by dress codes, faculty and administration. The school itself seems to care more about the appearance and noise level of the children then their education. As for the dean that I have to work with I find that he could use a few lessons in how to neutralize a situation instead of dominate it. Overall I'm sad to say my son will have to attend this school next year, hopefully they can fix some of their administration problems by then.
I think it is a good school . But I am not excited about dress code and getting kicked out of school because of that. Dress code should be reconsidered.
this school was decent. i just hated dress code.
this school is horrible i lived near legacy high school and findlay middle i went here for 2 years 6th and 7th they introduced me to under aged smoking gang activity drugs theft and even faulty teaching one teacher even made me redo something i finished 4 times and my parents had facts that backed it up and she said i didnt
I went to this school all three years and now I'm in high school. I promise you it's a bad school I hated it, my older sister hated it and my younger brother hated it.my brother and I both had bullies and problems there and nobody did anything about it because they were too worried about dresscode. Plus most of the teachers are very unprofessional and so are the office people. DONT SEND YOUR KIDS THERE YOU'LL REGREY IT!!
Findlay Middle School is a drop out factory........
Findlay Middle School is a drop out factory........
well personaly i love this school they have the best teachers the dance team is so talented, my chiles is on ther 3rd yer here. and she also agrees that findlay is a great school
This school is more concerned with enforcing their "dress code" and kicking children out of school for "dress code violations" than giving a student an education. My daughter has been sent to behavior school for dress code violations. BEHAVIOR SCHOOL! The teachers in this school are very unprofessional. It makes me sick to my stomach that schools lilke this are not getting audited properly, so that our children can get a proper education. By the way, I will be home schooling my daughter when she is done with her behavior school sentence.
This school is perfectly fine. The teachers may be a little rude and everything, but I dont think this school is the Worst.
This school's students may cause problems but this school does have non-problem taking teachers. So I DONT agree with those whom hatethis school.
Not a very good school... I'm sorry but Johnston Middle School Is better.
This School is the WORST. My Child's Teachers were HORRIBLE! The school is HORRIBLE! My Son just got transfered from here for two weeks, and He hated it, I did, and my Husband. The kids here are rude, selfish, mean, Just the worst school ever! Im sorry but it wasnt a good school.
I Do not like dress code. Theres no point of having it if alot of kids are going to keep being out of dress code. EDUCATION IS MORE IMPORTANT!!! I am a student at Bailey Middle School
i transferred to findlay from johnston becuse i had so many problems at johnston my first week at findlay i had no problems but my first week at johnston this year before i switch i swear i was gong to switch i like this school so far but ill see later on in the year how it goes i mean just yesterday there was a fight? like really on the 4th day of school
This school has failed my children. They focus on the wrong issues. Teachers could care less about their students education. They are kicking the kids out of school for ridiculous reasons. They should be happy the kids go to school. They deny children their education because of "dress code", this school is why Las Vegas has the worst rated schools in the U.S.
This school is THE worst school ever! They are more concerned with sending kids home for dress code than giving them an education... Don't send your kids to this school!
It is a very nice school the teachers are great my daughter loves it there
I have a son at Clifford this is his first year in Clark County district, so far I think things are going well and for the most parent the teacher's seem to care, especially if they see the parent is making effort to assist. I do think that being activity is very important as to how your child is handled.
