Im not happy with Bruner Elem. My son feels sick EVERY morning before school and is very angry EVERY DAY after school when I pick him up. I have been to many many meetings with the principal to address the concerns I have about his teacher intimidating him and humiliating him in front of the class on a daily basis, but to this day no action has been taken by the school, only by me, the parent. I have had my son removed from the teachers class and yet 2 days later, my son has come home with complaints that the teacher is still making his presence known with enforcing a rule he had originally set for my son. The rule is that my son is forbidden to have ANY contact of ANY kind with his friend on school grounds until further notice with the reason being that my son is a leader and his friend is a follower. There has been no formal document filed in the records as to why this teacher is allowed to enforce this punishment even though my son is no longer in his class. There has been no incident related to this punishment either. Im still waiting for some sort of paperwork letting me know that this is a rule or punishment for my son and why this is being enforced. I have read the school rules and guidelines as far as dicipline and behavior procedure and I cannot find where the teacher is allowed to discipline in this fashion. Im in the process of removing my children from this school as soon as the Christmas break is over. My question is "HOW DO YOU PROTECT THE CHILDREN FROM BEING BULLIED FROM THE TEACHER HE IS SUPPOSE TO BE LEARNING FROM"? This man has put terrible stress on an 8yr old boy who is now not wanting to go to school at all. In my last meeting with the teacher and principal, this teacher was laughing and making me feel like I was the problem. He never addressed the facts I had presented as to why I have not seen any homework or any class work come home with my son. Im concerned as to what he is actually learning in class because I havent seen even 1 spelling word for review and we have already had the first report card come home. He tried to deny the severty of the incidents where he made my son cry on several occasions and never notified me as to why he was so humiliated in front of the class. Again, HOW DO YOU TEACH A CHILD NOT TO BULLY WHEN THE TEACHER IS THE ONE WHO IS DOING THE BULLYING? MY SON IS 8YRS OLD, WE ARE SPEAKING OF AN ADULT AND A CHILD. WHICH ONE IS ACTING LIKE THE CHILD? THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING.......
parent with kids at Bruner for 12 years: My kids have been going to Bruner since kindergarden. The teachers are the best. They have lost a couple of very good teachers like Mr. Smith and RIP Mrs.Levesque.The old principal Mrs. Howard was the best . The new principal is to strict. This is a school not a prison. The staff in the office are ok. There is one that is really good. The vice principal is ok.Overall this school is the best.Hopefully the principal will lighten up for the next school year.
very disgusted: My children have been going to this school since kindergarten, and this school has done nothing but go down, the teachers are great its the principal that brings it down, the office staff is beyond the worst, can't wait until my kids are out of this school! The principal needs to get a grip on reality. Love the teachers like I said can't stand the office staff, principal and assistant principal.
