Chatham Day School Reviews
The Middle School is a joke
This school is like a theatrical performance. It doesn't matter how often they rearrange furniture move classrooms around or move inexperienced teachers and assistants around, students need consistency and experience this school has neither. The administration needs a drastic change, they are no longer building a school, they are breaking it.
Top Notch Middle School
Chatham Day School is the perfect fit for my three children. The middle school department is fantastic and run by an amazing hands on director. Specifically, the dramatic arts program, Spanish and history are top notch! It gives me such pleasure to know my kids spend their days in such a loving environment.
Inexperienced teachers and assistants. Lack of professionalism.
New administration is desperately needed. Beautiful campus but don't judge a book by its cover. Take your money elsewhere.
Poor Leadership and Management
The school leadership is unprofessional beyond words. They are not proactive and take no responsibility for their own poor management, procedures, decision making and actions. On the second to last day of kindergarten, they suggested (via email) failing my child and giving her the "gift of time" by repeating the school year (coloring). Throughout the year, all parent/teacher reviews were glowing as a result of their educational prowess (according to them) The only person who needs a gift of time is a cancer patient. Perhaps they should have called me in a few months earlier to discuss [content removed by Schoolfinder review team]. Bad experience. Spend your money at a school with history, pedigree and leadership.

Unprofessional Leadership & Management
I find the school lacks much needed leadership. As the newby on the block, it's clear the other schools with true pedigree have a major leg up on the Chatham folks. My advice is spend your money elsewhere.
I am a parent of a 6th and 4th grader in our third year at this remarkable school. Chatham Day School delivers what is promised;an academically rigorous and individualized education in a nurturing environment. Our son is thriving by participating in many leadership opportunities; student government, leadership seminars and mentoring of younger students. Our daughter is developing a love of story-writing and working on projects with peers, while advancing at math in amazing ways. The wonderful teachers really get to know your child, and every interaction they have empowers their growth in meaningful ways.
The teachers are amazing. My son comes home everyday excited about learning. The academics are strong, and the teachers are supportive. I feel very lucky that we found such a wonderful school.
I have been a Chatham Day School parent for eight years. I feel incredibly lucky that my three daughters have been able to attend such an extraordinary school. The students are academically challenged, emotionally nurtured, respected, and valued. You couldn't ask for a better PS-8 environment for your children. It is a very special place.
Dedicated is the word that comes to mind to describe the faculty and administration at Chatham Day School. The teachers always go above and beyond their duties. If you want your children to be in a school that is supportive with a cirriculum that is academically rigorous CDS is a perfect fit for you.
The care that the faculty and administration give to each student is amazing. My daughter has thrived with the school's small class sizes, nurturing environment, and cutting edge curriculum.
Chatham Day School is an amazing school! Tremendous faculty and administration, gorgeous facilities, and inspiring curriculum. I encourage any parents who are looking for a high quality educational environment for their child(ren) to see for themselves!
