Park Avenue Elementary School

The school is poor and overcrowded, so my Kindergartner is being bused to another school in a different district.  However, the teachers are amazing, and the PTO is very supportive.

On the positive side, the people employed at the school are amazing! My son's teachers are wonderful, caring, dedicated, and basically the best group of people I have ever met.
On the other end, the school is severely underfunded, overcrowded, and unorganized. Only 3 of my sons classmates have parents that speak English so although the students he goes to school with are sweet children being able to barely communicate with them as they learn the language and them having parents I cannot communicate with at all is frustrating.
Any child has a fair opportunity to succeed at this school, but it will take a lot of dedication and contributing from the parents....I think all parents should take an active role in their child's education, but at this school is will take an additional effort. If your household is two full time working parents with multiple elementary age children this may not be a good choice for your kids.
