Jackson Twp Community Pre-K & Day Care

I wrote the review above and thought I'd give an update.  

the positives: that there are no negatives!  Very happy with our daughters progress..she is so excited every day to tell us and show us all she is learning.  The teachers adore her and our little one is a very happy camper..which of course makes us even happier!  

maybe its just my perception but i think they may be less rigid about the pick-up now........though i dont go and test it!  if its one positive thing that came out of me being late that day, it showed me a new route (and it ended up cutting about 5 min off my travel time!!)

positives: The main teacher is very nice, our daughter was eager to start Pre-K and we are happy with how much fun she has there every day and what she is learning.  The price is pretty reasonable, $320 a month for 2 1/2 hrs mon-fri.  I am unemployed but my little one was so excited about going to Pre-K like her big brother did that we just couldn't say no.  

negatives: I am Extremely disappointed with how their "pick-up" system works and is implemented.  There is no "grace" period..if you are even a minute late they charge you $7 as a "late pick-up", which is the same amount they charge for an entire hour of after-school care.  I live on the opposite side of town and it takes 20 min to get there. I hit traffic due to a road being repaved and since I don't frequent that part of town often, I was not aware of the construction delays. I hear a lot of child care facilities charge $1 a min late until you reach the amount that would be charged for an entire hr.  Her teacher seemed "upset" to be doing it, but it felt to me like she was prodded to do it by one of the more senior (older) teachers. The message was pretty clear: We can charge you, so we will!!  One minute late ?! I'd expect a little more understanding than this....

The only reason we won't remove my daughter from this program is obvious: it would upset her.  Unfortunately this is a huge tic-mark against them in our book and the school year just started a month and half ago.  Its a shame, we had such a wonderful experience from start to finish when my son went to this program at Geotz.
