Kidz Kazoom Preschool

I would just like to start by saying this is NOT a school.  It's a daycare.  There is no real education going on here.  With that said, here is my review.  I can't say this in any other way than DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE!  I applied to work here as a teachers aid on a Saturday and after a 10 minute interview was hired without ever having to meet the owner/manager and started the next day.  Sounded great and I really wanted to work with kids and bring my 18 month old with me so he could enjoy the benefits of daycare as well.  The things I saw from the mere 2 hours we stayed were horrifying.  I witnessed numerous 'teachers' yelling at the kids, showing their frustration, neglecting hurt children and crying infants.  Feeding time in the meal area is a disgusting mess, There was debris and dirt all over.  The part that made me decide to walk out before finishing my first day was when I witnessed the 'teacher' that was tending to my sons class in the cafeteria put him in a chair that was not restrained or a booster.  I explained that he'd never sat in a chair without a booster and while he seemed to be doing ok with it, to please keep an eye on him so he doesnt fall.  She said ok.  A few minutes later her and another 'teacher' got into a conversation and left the table of 6 18 month olds alone at the feeding table with her back turned.  My son fell right out of his chair and was tangled up in the legs and started screaming bloody murder.  Not only did the **** not turn around, she didnt even notice, nor did the other teacher.  After seeing that they werent phased and that this is apparently a regular occurrence...I picked up and consoled my son, and left the room.  They didn't notice he fell, that I picked him up or that we left.  It must have been a great convo.  Now my son was fine, but what if one of the kids choked, had an allergy?  I find it UNACCEPTABLE in any case to leave any age child unattended let alone 6 toddlers eating who aren't restrained.  Common sense is not a job requirement here.  

My experience aside I'd like to add things I feel parents should know if they're not yet convinced to seek other care:
1.  They never ran a background check on me when I was hired.  Now, I KNOW I'm not a psycho or pedophile, but how do they?  How do you?  These teachers (who are really 20 something girls) said and I quote "Uh, these kids are driving me crazy" more than a few times...apparently they have some anger issues.  They said it loud enough for the kids to hear, and anyone else, ie: me.

3. There were a few kids who were clearly ill and instead of sending them home, they allowed coughing and runny noses to be around the other children

4.  Cleanliness!  If a daycare can't give enough effort to sweep, disinfect, pick up...how do you think your kids are being cared for?

5.  Diaper & Potty:  My son is still in diapers and was changed by some random non english speaking woman who left his diaper so tight the straps overlapped and left marks on him.  I overheard a father furious with the manager that his 3 yr old is potty trained and every day he comes home in a diaper.  

6.  There was a child who had hurt his hand at home, so the mother asked them to take caution when hes in the play gym.  the employee agreed, but in the gym this little boy was NOT even being watched let alone cautioned.  

7.  Child Interaction:  Forget it.  None of the kids I saw played together or even really paid attention to each other.  

8.  Teacher Interaction:  Learning time??  NOPE!  Their 'learning time' consists of the kids sitting at a table doing puzzles while the teachers talk among themselves or sit and do their own thing.  The kids weren't stimulated.  And on the website I saw computers...but not when I was there working.

I'm sorry, I know this is a really long review and if you're still reading this, thank you for listening to me vent.  I was just so disgusted as a parent, as someone who genuinely loves children and wants to work with them so much and I think just as someone with common sense.  There are so many better places out there.  This place isn't any cheaper, and it's just a horrible excuse for a daycare.  You'd have better luck leaving them with the family dog, at least k-9's have instinct.  If you are looking for clean places with nice people, here are a few I've interviewed or applied to and really hope I get in:

Again I'm sorry this is so long, I just had a lot to say.  I couldn't keep working there knowing my son would be in another room and I would never know what was really going on.  Even if I wasn't a mother, I could never work for a company that hires and keeps employed such neglectful, spiteful people.
