LOVE THIS SCHOOL! My son has been here a year and a half.  ! Prior, my son was at a special ed school in Lincoln Park for 4 years and they recommended he be in residential, There, he was aggressive every day and made several suicide attempts there, spent most of the day in isolation and constantly suspended !  Since my sons been at WLC, he is excelling in his academics, there are no issues of aggression. I only wish I had moved him to WLC sooner ! They treat kids with respect and dignity and rules and consequences are the same across the board regardless of mental illness or medical and build their self esteem!

This school is a last resort school.  In other words, kids who for whatever reason misbehave constantly in public school are allowed to go here as a last resort.  Don't be fouled by the reward system which gives them treats for good behavior.  The staff constantly yells at the children (as can be heard anytime a parent comes for pick up) and threats of going to the time out room are given all day long.  Your child will probably pick up many bad behaviors from the other children as mine has even though he constantly stays on level 3 (the good behavior level).  If your child excels in academics the Windsor program will advance them many grade levels in math and english (modified of course) so this may be a plus.  However, if your child is a slow learner let me assure you that he will be put back one to two grade levels in math and english and do on average half of a text book per year (remember text books are meant to be covered in one year).   Also, Windsor looks pretty bad on college applications so you may want to get your advanced child out prior to high school.  If your child is not advanced, you should think long and hard before sending him here.  I would rate it half of one star out of five.
