Parent inquiries being dismissed by principal and teachers
I am disappointed to find that many parents have been shut down in their search for answers regarding their children's performance. I have had a email exchange with the current 2013-14 principal where he has passed the buck and told me to go to my child's teachers. I have been told by other parents with current and past students that teacher will close ranks and completely ignore parents inquiries and not address the issue they may have. I did not have this problem at Washington School, the earlier grades. The principal there is on point and knows all his students and their status very well. I find the principal and teachers do not communicate with each other and there is a severe breakdown in communications in the faculty. Tenured older teachers and handing out projects worth large portions of grades for in school assignments and do not inform parents. My fifth grader was given a project on Hurricane Katrina and the satellite science teacher did not tell her where and how to find the information. I spent several hours on line researching with her to complete her project.
In my own and completely subjective opinion, the current principal is abrupt and dismissive with my concerns as well as alienating.
This is unacceptable
