About the NJASK
What is it?
The New Jersey Assessment of Skills and Knowledge (NJ ASK) is an annual test used to assess a student's mastery of the state's grade-level academic standards.
Which Grades and Subjects?
Students are assessed in grades 3 through 7 in language arts literacy and math, and in grade 4 in science.
How is it Scored?
Students are rated at one of three levels: partially proficient, proficient, or advanced proficient. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level.
About the HSPA
What is it?
The High School Proficiency Assessment (HSPA) is used to determine student achievement as specified in the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards.
Which Grades and Subjects?
Students in grade 11 are assessed in language arts literacy and math.
How is it Scored?
Students are rated at one of three levels: partially proficient, proficient, or advanced proficient. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level. Students must pass the HSPA in order to graduate from high school.
