Apple Montessori of Wayne Elementary School

I enrolled my child and quickly pulled him out for several reasons. Firstly, there was one teacher to 25 children and 2 aides, only one of which was allowed to teach the children. My son was basically walking around on his own, and there was little one to one interaction. I was told that they demonstrate things once to him and that he should get it and some kids take longer than others- besides that he shoudl be in school full time or he wouldn't learn anything. In addition, there was, in my opinion, a general feeling that the children shoudl not interact with each other unless in the playground. Developmentally, this is damaging for a preschool age child. Let's not even mention the fact that the older kids were bullying my son and that he felt that they were mean- 800 dollars a month for this! what a waste! they are not implementing the montessori method the way it should be, but boy oy boy are they  making money off you- watch out and send your chidl to a play based school- frustrated!

This school is a disappointment. The school has no library and does little with computers, no media center. While the curriculum seems advanced for pre-K through 1st grade, I was not impressed academically beyond that.  I found a significant churn of students. Parents I've spoken to said they were quite happy with the public schools and saved a lot of money. I also saw a significant churn of teacher aides, which led to an inconsistent experience for my child. There are a lot of add-on fees beyond the basic tuition. My child and others brought home math homework that they said was not discussed in school, so I needed to teach it at home. In my experience, I found the school was not receptive to parental feedback. I can't recommend this school.
