Eva B. Stokely Elementary School Reviews
Like most scchools in New Mexico; needs room for improvment.
Overall, the layout and design of the school is pretty modern and clean for Shiprock. The school lacks the number one most important thing, which is security. Countless times I went to pick up my student and there were no security gaurds nor any administrative people at the front desk. If there is somebody there all they ask is who you are looking for and they have you sign in. Then they call up the student or have you retrieve them yourself without question. They do not ID or check a list to see if you are allowed to check out a child. On one occation, my child was checked out by an in-law without my consent and my child was pulled out school and the school replied that the in-law stated he was his uncle. This was very dissappointing and upsetting. The teachers are also very verbally and emotionally stong on young children and scold them as if it were their children. This was also very unacceptable. My child's kindergarden teacher was amazing; she was very effective in her teaching methods and was very accomidating to my childs speech problems. My child's 1st and 2nd grade teachers were very rude and sucked as teacher. When asked about progress she was very sarcastic.
