About This School
Charter schools are public schools, but differ from traditional public schools in that they are independent and are operated by educators, parents, community leaders, educational entrepreneurs, or others. Funding for charter schools is based on designated local or state educational organizations. Those organizations are responsible for monitoring and assessing the quality and effectiveness of education, but permit the schools to operate outside of the traditional public school education system. Albany Community Charter School Reviews
High Achieving School with Dedicated Leadership, Teachers and Administrators
My grandson and 2 great grandsons attend ACCS. I am impressed with the time and commitment of staff at all levels, especially, the school leadership. Excellence is an expectation and teachers approach students with a can do attitude. Another expectation is parental involvement, and ACCS parents are to be commended on their work with ACCS staff and leadership in program enrichment. It is no surprise that ACCS has earned the Blue Ribbon of Excellence award.
After working in the education field for over 40 years, this is the best school I have ever known. My grandchildren attend this school. I can't say enough about. The first graders are reading like third graders. They not only excel in teaching academics, they also excel in teaching children self-respect, responsibility, self-esteem, community work, personal safety, & self-worth. The school is a community, all the faculty know all the students and they all work together to achieve their goals.
This is an excellent example of a community school. The staff are committed to this community and the children who attend this school. My child has had a positive exerience here. Rigourous academics, structure, high standards and a lot of self esteem builing.
The ACCS name is synonymous with greatness. The students are taught to appreciate reading and writing and to strive for excellence. In addition, the school is distinguished by hard-working teachers, an efficient administrative staff, strong leadership, and committed parents. As a parent of a student attending ACCS, I am thankful for the world-class education my son is receiving.
The school staff id very friendly. The principal and office staff know every child by their name. It is an excellent school!
