I feel the Baldwin Middle School provides an outstanding education to children at the sensitive. My daughter began her education at the Waldorf Schools and I was a skeptic in the beginning of public school education. Last year and this year my daughter has grown in leaps in bounds with education and her self esteem. My daughter gained her self esteem at the Baldwin Middle School. The Waldorf provided her with an excellent foundation, however, she was not the shining star there. At the Baldwin Middle School, she was recognized and validated for the gifts she brings and in this way her self esteem improved.

motherof2kids: I just have 2 other things to say why don't they teach our kids spanish in elementary school when they are pulling out all of the non-speaking english kids to learn english. They would pick it up right away & its not fare that they have to wait unit 7th & 8th grade to learn spanish. They are already disturbing the classes. I know other school districts do it. Also what happened to teaching script to the kids in elementary school.. Then when they get to sixth grade they have to write script. I was told it was taken out of the cirruculm. And they need to do more assemblies on the anti-bullying because I have been seeing alot of it in all schools. If you start young with these kids they will pick it up more quickly. But they also should do assemblies in all schools & all grades. This is also part of which the parents should be reinforcing at home. Another thing is what happened to teaching the kids to type. when they go into 6th grade they have to type all their reports. I was not told this. If I new I would have worked on it. Again its all about communication & working together. I am PROUD to live in Baldwin & that my kids are going to baldwin schools. Thank you Nancy Gilfoyle

motherof2kids: I think that baldwin schools are still good schools but the parents have to get involved more. I went to baldwin schools and graduated in 1979 & the high has changed alot. But the whole thing is communitation. If you pay attantion to what is going on & get involved & not just let your kid do what he or she wants & gets involved in some of the activities they will get a good education. They should also take advange of BOCES that is offer in 11th & 12th grade- start talking to you guidence couselor early in 10th grades about the course offerings. Also the staff should get more involved with all of this bulling that is going on.. Go to the community input meetings. Find out what is going on. They have a lot of different resources that we don't know about. Nancy Guilfoyle (gratuate of 1979 along with my brothers) They should not have the no left behind act because if your child is not able to do the work in 1st or 2nd grade they are never going to get...
