About the NYSA
What is it?
The New York State Assessments are annual tests used to measure a student's mastery of the state's grade-level academic standards. The tests are also used to evaluate schools and determine each school's accountability status.
Which Grades and Subjects?
Students in grades 3 through 8 are assessed in English language arts and math, in grades 4 and 8 in science, and in grades 5 and 8 in social studies.

The New York State Regents Examinations are a series of subject specific tests that measure a student's level of proficiency in each of the subject areas tested.

High school students must pass at least five tests in the following subjects: English language arts, math, global history and geography, US history and government, living environment, chemistry, earth science, physics and foreign language.
How is it Scored?
Every New York high school student must pass (score a 65 or above) at least five Regents examinations to receive a high school diploma. The goal is for all students to pass the tests.

Anne: Absolutely amazing. This school goes above and beyond to create a strong learning environment by implementing all of the latest tools, including computers for each child and smart boards in every classroom. The advancement I have seen in my first grade son is astonishing. He was diagnosed with ADHD and had struggled in pre-k and learning center day cares before this. Looking back on this time last year, he was just starting to form letters and hold his pencil correctly. Now he is writing clear words, forming full and logical sentenses in traditional marble notebooks as well as reading at a G level! There is constant communication with his teacher and all involved in his learning and I never feel out of the loop. If there is a problem noticed, it is addressed IMMEDIATELY, before it can escalate. If I could give this school 10 stars I would. I love it!
