What is it?
The New York State Assessments are annual tests used to measure a student's mastery of the state's grade-level academic standards. The tests are also used to evaluate schools and determine each school's accountability status.

well, quite frankly, I hear this school is 1 of only 2 schools in the new york area that's bilingual as in spanish 1 week and then english the next. My son is enrolled in this school and is under performing according to the school. we see that this school is focusing more on spanish than in english, this school has a test rating of 2. we are latino but english is our first language, spanish being second. My son is very good at english but not that well in spanish. He received a promotion in doubt notice and we feel it's because of the spanish carriculum that is being forced on him. we feel every week he is trying to learn spanish is a wasted week that he should have been strengthening his english accademics. The spanish end could be learned at home and at least 1 day a week at the most in school. If this school focused more on the english academics, it probably would have a better performance rating!!
