About the NYSA
What is it?
The New York State Assessments are annual tests used to measure a student's mastery of the state's grade-level academic standards. The tests are also used to evaluate schools and determine each school's accountability status.
Which Grades and Subjects?
Students in grades 3 through 8 are assessed in English language arts and math, in grades 4 and 8 in science, and in grades 5 and 8 in social studies.
How is it Scored?
Students receive a score of level 1 through level 4. The goal is for 90% of students to score at or above level 3, the level of proficiency.

What is it?
The New York State Regents Examinations are a series of subject specific tests that measure a student's level of proficiency in each of the subject areas tested.
Which Grades and Subjects?
High school students must pass at least five tests in the following subjects: English language arts, math, global history and geography, US history and government, living environment, chemistry, earth science, physics and foreign language.
How is it Scored?
Every New York high school student must pass (score a 65 or above) at least five Regents examinations to receive a high school diploma. The goal is for all students to pass the tests.

Connie: This school works towards educating the whole student, not just academics. They have gym every day, Spanish and health instruction begin in Kindergarten as do art, music and library. The teachers there recognized the special needs of my sons even before we had formal diagnoses and began working with them to their abilities above their grade levels. This K-12 charter school has a 100% graduation rate for three years, has a new expanded fitness center, family services center, green house and plans for an auditorium. We will do everything we can to keep our sons in this school!!

Charter School for Applied Technologies
CSAT is a fantastic school. My child started ther in 5th grade and when he graduated his class was the first to have 100% graduation rate.
The teachers are fantastic and are open and willing to work with parents and afterschool personnel.
