FHHS has seen a lot of changes. Most notably, the student population has increased steadlily to the point of being severely overcrowded. I cannot understand the stat of 22:1, (as shown on the website) since most classes have 30 plus students with gym classes as high as 50 to 1. Moreover, each guidance counselor is responsible for hundreds of students. Teachers are likely to teach towards a state exam than they are to the content of the course curriculum, as this policy is fostered by the department APs. Teachers have been assigned to proctor and grade their own class state regent exams, thus leading to highly inflated grades including those of special students. Students who have failed gym can pass, if they clean the gym lockers at the end of the term. Those who have failed academic subjects can wind up passing by just taking an abbreviated intersession class. Also, 5 unexcused absences are allowed each marking period. Since there are 6 marking periods per year, a student is able to pass having 30 or more absences each school term. School attire is also up for discussion, as the deans do very little to uphold decent school attire. Cell phone usage runs rampant, with very little control during regents week. This supposed "school of excellence" is no longer upholding the standards of such a distinguised recogntion.
