Not too impressed with this school- and principle! I have a daughter who struggles and the school fights me with an iep! I feel she really needs this! I work with her for about 2-3 hours a night on home work plus she gets tutoring 3 days a week! Teacher is not very responsive as well! She has a 504 plan (the school never mentioned this plan to me the advocacy center did!!) that has been on it's way since mid Nov it is now mid March!! I am still waiting............... daughter is in 3rd grade (remind you it is almost the end of her 3rd grade yr) and is at a 2nd grade reading level and has a hard time comprehending what she reads! Yes, I see this as a problem when she cant read chapter books or math problems. She has been at the max level of help since kindergarten! They do not want her repeating either! I would not recommend this school especially if your child has special needs!! Looking to move within 2 years because of all the school issues!

I think the school continues to progress. It is working hard on differentiating with the students and the principal is fantastic! I do not care for the "Family Model" structure of children staying together for 3 years but changing teachers year to year. I think i limmits the students exposure to other children. Otherwise it is a fine school with well behaved children.

I think that school as a good structure and curriculum. But the second grader teacher seems not be able to handle with the numbers os students. The students need more time to have teacher's feedback.

My son started Floyd Winslow in the 2008-09 school year. He was welcomed via the 'new-comers' club (an attentive way to introduce new students to Winslow)...which was a GREAT way to transition him from his previous school. I greatly appreciate that the ENTIRE staff takes part in this club and they take pride in knowing all the students by name!
I am pleased with the overall student/teacher ratio (about 12 students per teacher)...thus keeping a focus on academics and the benefit to help each student personally. Being a parent volunteer for this first year, I was able to witness the strong dedication the teachers and staff have for all the children.
Last....safety and communication at Floyd Winslow is very...very strong! I can't stress enough how these two qualities are upheld with high degree throughout the entire school year. Parent involvement is strongly encouraged as well:)
I look forward to the next 4 years for my son.....I know at Floyd Winslow he will get a solid foundation for his academic future.
