PS 153 Maspeth Elementary School Reviews
This school is dirty, bugs and mice everywhere. Bauer, Murphy, Vooght, and Vartanian discriminate against minorities. The principal mismanages the budget. Kids are bullied and verbally abused by staff. Kids are forced to study in hot rooms while the principal enjoys AC. Great for whites terrible for minorities. Very nazi school.
This school is racist and discriminates against latinos. The administrators Mrs. Bauer, Mrs. Murphy, Ms. Vartanian, and Mrs. Vooght abuse their power and bully latino kids. The school aids (who are all white) scream at the latino children, blow whistles in their ears, deny them the bathroom, and embarrass them. Latino students are belittled by staff. Latinos are subject to disciplinary actions that their white counterparts do not suffer. They are denied equal opportunities and not allowed to participate equally in extra curricular activities. Latino parents are undermined and dismissed. Latino students and their families are made to feel as invaders, undervalued, and insignificant. I have seen latino children humiliated and ridiculed. The problem is that most latino parents do not know their rights and trust that the administration and staff are professionals and are looking after their children's best interest. These parents couldn't be more wrong. Latino children are kept from advancing and are purposely denied a well rounded education. I'm disappointed in Chancellor Walcott. As an African American, why isn't he more vigilant and investigate the discrimination that goes on in PS 153Q? The administrators are detached from the reality that NYC is a multicultural community. Sorry if we are not all European white, ladies. Minorities have a right to a public school education too! ALL children do. Don't ruin our children with your silent racism.
I absolutely loved this school. I went there two years ago and it was great. The teachers are really nice and know exactly how to help you. The staff and students are also great. I had so many friends and had a blast being in the band program they have. I love this school and it was definetly a memorable place for me. They set me up to be accepted into Fiorello H. Laquardia and one of my friends who also went there got accepted into Townsend Harris. I have a great future ahead of me and I owe it to them.
