Amistad Dual Language School
It's my son's first year in Amistad and we are thrilled by the high standard in education our son is getting! It's amazing to see how this unique program works, my son is one of the English domiant students and has had no problem with Spanish, his reading skills in English has progressed with amazing pace thanks to his amazing teacher!!! and no child gets left behind they have amazing team, and teachers' that work with your child if they see some struggle. Not to mention teacher's must report to the principal on a weekly basis on each childs' progress. Not to mention the benefits that scientist are finding on dual language programs for children and the brain! I highly recommend Amistad!!

Amistad Dual Language School
Kenneth Barr: Amistad is a K-8 English/Spanish dual language school in the Inwood section of Manhattan. IT uses many innovative techniques to teach children from diverse ethnic backgrounds and regularly exceeds standards set down by the City's Department of Education. I highly recommend Amistad.

About the NYSA
What is it?
The New York State Assessments are annual tests used to measure a student's mastery of the state's grade-level academic standards. The tests are also used to evaluate schools and determine each school's accountability status.
Which Grades and Subjects?
Students in grades 3 through 8 are assessed in English language arts and math, in grades 4 and 8 in science, and in grades 5 and 8 in social studies.
How is it Scored?
Students receive a score of level 1 through level 4. The goal is for 90% of students to score at or above level 3, the level of proficiency.

What is it?
The New York State Regents Examinations are a series of subject specific tests that measure a student's level of proficiency in each of the subject areas tested.
Which Grades and Subjects?
High school students must pass at least five tests in the following subjects: English language arts, math, global history and geography, US history and government, living environment, chemistry, earth science, physics and foreign language.
How is it Scored?
Every New York high school student must pass (score a 65 or above) at least five Regents examinations to receive a high school diploma. The goal is for all students to pass the tests.
