East Village Community School
I went to this school when it was still called the lower east side school...the teachers were always there for us they didn't treat us as a means to a paycheck...they were always warm and friendly and I enjoyed my school experience because of it...I even did my internship for high school at this school because my experience there was so memorable...I hope when my son is old enough he will be able to attend this school and enjoy it as much as I did.

It's a real good school, they create a great sense of community between the students and with the teachers and the school staff. Our daughter loves it!

What is it?
The New York State Assessments are annual tests used to measure a student's mastery of the state's grade-level academic standards. The tests are also used to evaluate schools and determine each school's accountability status.
Which Grades and Subjects?
Students in grades 3 through 8 are assessed in English language arts and math, in grades 4 and 8 in science, and in grades 5 and 8 in social studies.
How is it Scored?
Students receive a score of level 1 through level 4. The goal is for 90% of students to score at or above level 3, the level of proficiency.
