Blessed Sacrament School Reviews
As the mother of two teens who attended BSS for their preschool, elementary school and middle school years, I couldn’t be more delighted. My children have received a sound academic foundation. They weren’t just adequately prepared for high school, both have been recognized with high honors. But my children are not the exception. Despite its wide socio-economic makeup, BSS students consistently rank in the top 90% on national standardized tests.
Students at BSS are frequently given opportunities to excel. They are encouraged to take on leadership roles through activities like leading prayers, reading at mass and assisting younger students. There are countless opportunities for students to hone their speaking skills in both classroom activities and school-wide activities. Not only do they learn to lead, they also learn to serve. They frequently reach out to the greater community by supporting local charities.
They strongly encourage all students to participate in sports with a no-cut policy. My children have had the opportunity to try multiple sports and play on multiple teams without fear of being criticized for their abilities (or lack of). Instead, they were encouraged to keep trying. And both of them discovered they had talents even they didn’t know they had. Talk about building self-esteem and a sense of self-worth!
Parents are welcomed and encouraged to be an active part of the school community. There are plenty of opportunities for parents to volunteer and participate in their child’s education. Parents are frequently seen in the hallways before school, participating in morning prayer, and having lunch with their children.
But most importantly, BSS has been a wonderful experience. It is a friendly, family-centered community. Your child’s needs are not just met, but they are loved and cared for by a nurturing staff and faculty. Children are given the opportunity to bloom! On multiple occasions I have observed a teacher take note of a child’s individual talents and seek out opportunities to help them shine. Not only do the teachers take time to get to know their students, they take the time to get to know their students’ families. This supportiveness is not limited to school staff/faculty. I have witnessed the school community rally behind a family in crisis countless times.
Kids love BSS too. They skip into the building with smiles on their faces. When I asked my kids what they thought made BSS exceptional, they focused on the quality of the teachers. They told me how nice, good natured, devoted, optimistic and professional they were. (Their words, not mine.) Furthermore, I am delighted with the new leadership. It is exciting to see the renewed energy and enthusiasm she has brought to the school. I couldn’t ask for better role models for my children.
Although I do not believe that one school can be the perfect fit for all families, I know that BSS was the perfect school for my children. I don’t regret one minute of my family’s 12 years at this fine establishment.
In the 16 years that our family has been a part of BSS, I have never heard about even one incident of bullying. However, many students that have transferred to BSS from other schools because of bullying have been welcomed. My children have received outstanding educations and have been well prepared for high school. It's a shame anonymous posters can cast such accusations.
Do not go to this school! It continues to have bullying issues, forcing many students to other schools because they are so depressed. The teachers fail to act.
Also, they tell lies to parents. They say that their teachers are "professionals," but some actually do not have a degree in teaching and are teaching illegaly.
If you do wish to go here, make sure to donate alot of money. When you do, they care about you more then others.
