Enka Middle School Reviews

My granddaughter moved from one of the best schools in the Metro Washington, DC area and started Enka last fall.  She has adapted well and finds this school a lot better than the school she had been going to there.  We have been pleased with the schedules and class offering  (there is ART) and she loves her teachers and the school itself.  She was lucky enough to be accepted into the after school program run by the YMCA and has fit in well there.  The reviews above did worry us and actually had considered not moving to the area because of them.  I am so glad circumstances caused us to move into this district.  Please don't believe everything on this site.  I am glad we gave them a try.

We all need to teach our kids to show all adults respect. Its part of teaching them manners. That being said,Our teachers must also show all kids respect equally.I think all teachers need to be there to teach, and support ,and show no favortism ,and treat all kids the same.Whats the mold our kids need to fit in?I just have always told my kids,Noone is a like,we are all different and we all have different talents.Always do the best you can,and don't worry about what others think. Its more important what we think about ourselves.Kids need to go and want to   learn  .Thats how our teachers can do their jobs best.Teachers, staff and students need to all work togeather and then kids .Teachers must be Fair and nonjudgemental,we as parents must do the same and support our teachers and kids.

This is a troubled school! The administration doesn't know how to deal effectivly and consistantly with problems like bullying. I think the principal is in over her head and should think about going back to elementary school. There are good teachers here but there are also too many who think they themselves are teenagers. They also tend to use the excuse that they have too many students to keep up with. This sounds like an organizational problem and shows a complete lack of professionalism.  If your child fits the mold they will do fine but there is no room for a child who is outside the "normal" learning curve.

The support of teachers whom lack professionalism in the classroom is a disgrace.  Respect is earned not bestowed. To redeem your school and the education profession start getting rid of the inept, unprofessional, and incompetent teachers.
