About This School
Charter schools are public schools, but differ from traditional public schools in that they are independent and are operated by educators, parents, community leaders, educational entrepreneurs, or others. Funding for charter schools is based on designated local or state educational organizations. Those organizations are responsible for monitoring and assessing the quality and effectiveness of education, but permit the schools to operate outside of the traditional public school education system. Lake Norman Charter School Reviews
Parent's assessment is correct.
As a teacher at Lake Norman Charter School, I can tell you that our class sizes are manageable at 22, sometimes up to 25, students per teacher. Some classes have as few as 17 students. Teachers work very hard to ensure that all students have the opportunity to learn. Teachers tutor before and after school to help students who need additional assistance. Students are challenged through a rigorous curriculum that supports the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. We get students who struggle in the regular public school setting and help them grow socially as well as intellectually. There is a lot of parent support and involvement at our school. Our principal works hard to support teachers, students, and parents. I would challenge anyone to find a better public school that teaches like at private school at a public school price.
The information of 1 teacher per 14 students is no longer the case in 2009. Many more students have enrolled in the past couple of years. LNCS is a middle and high school now. The teacher to student ratio used to be wonderful...alot of one-on-one time with each student...easier to keep control of the classroom...more encouraging environment but now all of that is gone. Teachers rule this school. Some teachers are known for discouraging their students as opposed to encouraging them. My opinion of this school has changed over the years.
