Weddington High School

When we moved to the district, in 2006, there was no student data available on colleges.  The guidance counselors kept us waiting for an hour or two while they did an informal verbal poll amongst employees and students in the guidance office.  They produced a list of colleges to which some WHS students gained entrance.  No statistics were available about what percentage of students attended college, versus dropping out, versus entering the workforce.  
After 3 years, the school has improved, but not nearly enough for the current ratio of budget to information.  
If you are looking to educate your children in Union County NC, I would look to any other high school than Weddington.  It is my child's senior year of high school, and I have heard William Breedlove, the current principal, say to me personally (at least five times this semester) that his school has 1200 students.  
It was so confusing and disappointing to read that NCES reports that over 1800+ students attend WHS.  Well... whichever statistic is accurate, the school would benefit from more than 2 guidance counselors.    
Look to send your children to a school which has made AYP for at least the past three years.  WHS has not.
