Brunson Elementary School Reviews
Wow, after reading the other review, I thought I should add my own review since my experience has been the exact opposite. This is my 2nd year and Brunson and we have been very happy. I have one child in the HAG program and one child in the regular school which is part of the STEM magnet program. The teachers are great, the principals friendly and available. Every time I visit the school it is easy to find and speak with an administrator, they know my kids by name and my kids think very positively of them.
For the specific concerns of the previous reviewer, I have never experienced any of those issues. I have never heard any type of music blasting, misbehavior is not tolerated (we have been involved in an incident and the school responded quickly and appropriately), never heard anything political from the teachers or administration, etc. (And this has been a very political year for schools in NC, so if they wanted to say something, this would have been the time to say it)
The HAG program has been excellent for my older child - he had completely lost interest in school at his previous school because he wasn't being challenged, despite the numerous opportunities for pull-out enrichment activities they provided. Now he loves school!
The HAG program is fairly self-contained - they don't mix with the other classes except for a few days throughout the year when they do special activities with a "little buddy" class where they pair up with a younger class to help them work on projects (which I love, giving them a chance to help/teach the little kids). I'm not sure about the other reviewer's experience of her HAG child forced to attend classes and lunch with the "minority" students? My son eats lunch with his own class, I don't even think the HAG students have recess with other classes?
But outside of the HAG program, this is a very diverse school, so there will be "minorities" in the same school with your child. If you have a problem appreciating the diversity that makes America the beautiful nation that it is, well, I don't know how to help you then...
The school officials are very liberal. they are trying to indoctrinate the children to liberalism. Behavior problems, fighting, kicking, spitting, hair pulling at lunch and on playground. Loud african music can be heard blasting throughout the school. HAG girls must attend classes and lunch with other minority children who have behavior problems.
Teachers praise liberal politicians and discuss the need to vote for funding for more UNion teachers. Principal hires and supports very liberal teachers. Some of the teachers are NOT qualified and have their own behaviorial and stress problems and should not be teaching children.
