Resnik is a wonderful school.  We do not live in Akron, but are able to open-enrolled our children through Akron Public Schools and we chose Resnik for their exceptional teachers, administrator, and parental involvement.  My children love to learn and are excited to go to school.  The teaching quality at Resnik is comparable to suburban schools where my children are supposed to attend.  It is a newly built school and the school environment is very welcoming.  I am very glad that we are part of the Resnik community.

I absolutely love it, we just moved to Ohio from Georgia and while we were researching area schools, Resnick came in really high. It has lived up to our expectations. Our 4th graders loves the school and the PTA is awesome and very involved and as we all know, a strong PTA is mandatory for a great school.

I am so pleased with Resnik CLC.  I was very worried about sending our first child to Kindergarten.  I wasn't sure if he was quite ready.  We had just moved to the area and we hardly knew anyone.  As I entered the building for the first time, I could not have been treated any better.  I was greeted with smiles, helpful suggestions and even a chance to talk one on one with the principal about my child.  I was amazed.  We are still new and I have only been inside the school a handful of times but it seems as if both the principal and secretary know who I am as well as my child.  I am so lucky to be a part of the Resnik community.

Resnik is an inviting school.  The parents, teachers and students seem to be genuinely glad to attend.   I believe that it has been a good place for my two children to start their academic careers.

The school is working more diligently this school year than ever to meet the needs of all students.  It is a school where high ability children are finding challenges in their work, too.
Thankfully the class sizes are typically small enough that teachers have more time to work with students at their correct levels.

Overall, I think this is an excellent choice for school; the children are in a caring environment where they are learning and are being made to feel part of a community.  The parents are also made to feel welcome and asked to help in the education of their children.

I am blessed to be the leader at Judith A. Resnik.  I work with a wonderful staff who works hard to help their students achieve and instill in them a love of learning.  Our parents and students are wonderful!  The parents worked closely with the teachers to help their child succeed academically. We have an awesome PTA.   Our PTA provides our students with so many wonderful learning opportunities. It is through the strong collaboration of staff, students, and parents that makes Resnik a special learning place!

Resnik School has great parents.  The parents are very supportive and willing to help in any way possible.  The PTA has been very supportive of the school and have helped implement several grants to enhance health education and increasing physical activity at the school.

This is our second year in the Firestone School District.
Our son Sam began attending Judith Resnik Elementary
just after it opened with the new dedication and the title of Community Learning Center.  Originally know as Farilawn Elementary School it has always been regarded as one of the best schools in the Akron Public School District.  I beleive what trully makes it special is the involvement of the parents.  We have some of the best activities because of our PTA and those teachers who go the extra mile to help.

I have two happy kids at Resnik and they have been enriched by their experiences there, many fold! My son has taken Spanish there, taught by volunteer teachers from the University of Akron. He loved learning something new and exciting! My daughter is a very young 1st grader who has had wonderful opportunities to learn and meet lots of friends and rather than sit, uninspired in a daycare facility, is here learning about science and fostering a beautiful talent for art and lovely handwriting! (Yes, even for a 6 year-old!) So, while there have been quirks and kinks to work out, there have been so many more wonderful benefits that I have been so pleased with the program!

When the kids were bussed to the swing space facility at Market St., it was wonderful! We were one of the first schools to utilize the space and while my son actually spent his Kindergarten year at Fairlawn and then moved, he's found Resnik to be his very favorite place! It's home and we're as happy as can be with the staff, with communication, with the security and safety of our children and with the fact that we have wonderful opportunities to share our gifts with those in the community around us.  It's a wonderful testament to the work that was put into the planning of the space and the time taken to make it what it is for all of us today...a happy place to learn and grow!

I have two children at Resnik and have had a mixed experience.   We have had some good teachers and some not-so-good.  There is good parental involvement and this has a positive impact.  There is not a good program for keeping the kids that are more advanced challenged well and giving the kids that need a little more help the help they need on a regular basis.  In K our kids seem to go so much farther than other schools which is great but other schools catch up quickly by 1st and 2nd grade.  The Simple Solutions books are not necessary for many kids and the math program overall for the school leaves much to be desired.  I think Resnik is a good school with a lot of good teachers and potential but much improvement is needed.

My daughter came to Resnik from a private charter school, where she was guided to excel; I didn't want her to lose this drive. The teachers that she had these past two years have kept her on this path, which I'm grateful . The PTA and teachers work hand in hand, which is great for the school, and we enjoy the numerous activities throughout the school year that the PTA/school put together.

Resnik is a well rounded school encouraging students to not only learn reading, writing, and math but also music and art.  The gym teacher encourages fun physical activity.  The school nurse encourages healthy choices and good hygiene through interactive projects.  Parental involvement is encouraged.  The school secretary is an every day hero who seems to be a friend to everyone that walks through her door.  Though there are some typical teachers that want conformity from every student there are also some wonderfully courageous teachers that you are glad your child gets to experience.

We have had a wonderful experience at Resnik over the past 4 years. The class sizes are relatively small (we have had between 17-24 children in each class) and the teachers are very good. My children have been taught at an appropriate level each year. They learned to read well in Kindergarten and have developed a love for reading.  Most importantly, they love school and are happy to go every day.

I am a parent of two children that have attended Resnik.  This public school is very diverse, and has kids across the learning spectrum.  I believe the school attends to the needs of the students very well.  The gifted specialist who is located in the school is amazing and has enriched the experience my child/children have had.
The amount of parental involvement at the school is tremendous. This has been the most enjoyable aspect for our family.  The parents who come in and organize classroom learning projects, book swaps, and who maintain the library and its reading program are amazing!
Overall, this school has been a special place of learning and community involvement for our family.

We open enrolled our child in Resnik and could not be more pleased.  The teacher is organized, creative, and caring, and other teachers whom we've come in to contact with are the same way.  The pricipal is excellent.  She is strong and firm with rules yet not power-hungry.  She truly cares for children and the children like and respect her.  The students in the school are well-behaved and given plenty of one-on-one attention.  Academically, we can't say enough- our child comes home with new knowledge daily and will be more than prepared for the next grade.  Fantastic school!

I love resnik, and I Believe it to be one of the better schools in Akron.  Resnik is a warm place where I feel welcome at every visit.  I think the teachers should teach the children how to use the dictionary and be more demanding on hadwriting.

Both of my children have had a great experience at Resnik CLC (formerly Fairlawn Elementary) over the past 10 years.  The teachers are excellent, and there is a great sense of community.  The parents enjoy "playground time" after school as much as the kids do as it gives us all a chance to network and stay better connected to our kids' school experience.

The PTA does a great job of enhancing the learning opportunities available for our children, as well as providing opportunities for personal growth for its members.

I highly recommend Resnik CLC.

I currently have two children attending Resnik CLC and am very happy and proud to be affiliated with this school.  Probably my favorite aspect of Resnik is the sense of community that has been created as a result of our principal, teachers and parents coming together to help the students learn and grow.  We are a diverse school in many respects, including racially, economically, and in terms of performance levels, but the students are always encouraged to overlook differences and work together.  This has fostered a wonderful environment where students can learn and feel that they are accepted.  Our family is lucky to be a part of this community.

I have a daughter and a nephew in this school and they love it. The teachers are very nice and tell you everything that is going on. Also on my daughters first day of kindergarten she was really scared and the principle took her time and read books and everthing with my daughter until she calmed down.

I have two children attending Resnik CLC in grades 2 and 3 and they absolutely LOVE it.  They always have positive things to say about their teachers, the principal, and the school nurse and secretary.  They are thriving at Resnik and look forward to going to school each day.  The communication between the school staff and the parents, at least in my experience, is wonderful.  If you have a question or need further information about anything, just send an email or put a quick note in their planner and you have an answer right away.  I can only hope that as they progress through their education at the higher grades that they enjoy the same level of education and nurturing, welcoming and safe environment they have at Resnik.

Resnik is a great place. I grew up in Akron Public Schools and received a wonderful education.  But as with everything, times change and I was really torn as to where ot send our children to school.  Resnik has changed my outlook and I am positive we made the right decision to send them to Resnik.  The staff is  outstanding.

Resnik is a wonderful school. My son's fifth grade teacher, Mrs. Pancoe, really encourages growth, both academically and personally. The environment is warm and inviting. I always feel welcome when I come to volunteer in the classroom. It's exactly how elementary school should be, fun and challenging.

I have two children that attend this school and each of my children recieve the needed help that they need in the classroom and also outside the classroom.  So over all I would have to say that the past three years has been a real joy for me and my children and enjoyable for them to learn at school.

This is our 4th year at this school. We are in a brand-new building.
The teachers do a tremendous job at trying to teach kids at their educational level. This year Resnik has started daily flexible grouping in many of the grades in the language arts program (and some in math). The gifted education specialist and special education specialists works with all the teachers for differentiated instruction within the classroom.
The specials teachers (PE, music and art) are fantastic and work hard at entering students/classes into local competitions. Last year, the 3rd, 4th and 5th grade classes won awards in a musical composition contest. The music teacher is instructing children with keyboards this year. She has also used African drums and steel drums in past years.

Extracurricular events at the school include 4/5th grade band and orchestra; 3/4/5th grade choir, 4/5th grade track, 3/4/5th grade Foreign language program (French or Spanish), 2/3/4/5th grade ski club; reporter for newsletter; drawing instruction, etc.
The student population is very diverse. The families at this school are wonderful. The PTA offers a variety of family activities to encourage a 'family' atmosphere including movie nights, ice skating, dinner nights out, and Earth Day grounds clean-up. The PTA also supports the students education and achievement with programs like our student recognition assembly, reading at home program, purchasing books for classroom, and volunteering in classrooms.
