About This School

Apex Academy is a K-8 public school managed by National Heritage Academies. We believe in a structured academic environment and provide a unique college-bound approach for our students.
Apex Academy is located in Cleveland, OH and is in Apex Academy School District. It is a charter school that serves 635 students in grades K-8.

Charter schools are public schools, but differ from traditional public schools in that they are independent and are operated by educators, parents, community leaders, educational entrepreneurs, or others. Funding for charter schools is based on designated local or state educational organizations. Those organizations are responsible for monitoring and assessing the quality and effectiveness of education, but permit the schools to operate outside of the traditional public school education system. See Apex Academy's test results to learn more about school performance.

In 2014, Apex Academy had 21 students for every full-time equivalent teacher. The Ohio average is 16 students per full-time equivalent teacher.

This is a very nice school. The teaches are compassionate individuals, who truly love their children.

I am quite disappointed with a few things about Apex Academy.
The tutorial program is not set up to were all students can have a fair chance to improve in their struggling subject. A child or the entire current group of kids can stay in the after school tutorial class as long as the parents feel their child needs it. There is no rotation so that others on the waiting list can attend. A student has to wait for some parent to pull them out. Tutoring began when school began, so on the first day of school to the current day there has been no rotation of children. My second concern is the teachers assistant that helps monitor the children. I would like to know if they are board certified, just what is the level of education and requirements, have they taken child psychology? Just what qualifies them to be an assistant? And finally staff members that work at the school with children. Why on cold days, do they get to remain inside until class starts while the rest of the school stays outdoors? The doors to the gym should be open so that children can wait inside. What you do for one you do for all. No child left behind!
