Lakewood High School Reviews
Not a good school at all for academics or if your child loves sports. High School teachers do not prepare students enough for the OGTs or for a future outside of high school. The rating of 5 shows for itself. 2010 OGT scores are low. Only 60% of Lakewood High School students did proficient or higher. Look at the numbers for yourself on the ODE web site... Out of 180 students this year, only 109 did good or above good. 71 students, from the numbers, did below proficient or limited. That's terrible!!! Maybe Lakewood will change things or are changing things in the lower grades, I hope for the future of Lakewood!!!
If your moving into this town, and want a good academic school then send your child to Granville. If you want a good school for sports then think about Licking Valley or Heath. Many of Lakewood's classes were eliminated when the district was having levy problems. Lakewood and many other licking county school districts need a lot of work! The school is good, in that it is a safe school to send your child. The kids are friendly and they try really hard. Lakewood is successful in Baseball and softball , their band is really good... but if they don't have a sport to play for in the future, band might even be eliminated... Good luck.
