This is a very unique school environment.  All learners are taught they have a "voice" in how the school runs and what the school does collectively.  The learners are from age 5 to 14.  All disabilities are represented and fully included in age appropriate classrooms.  Parents of the learners are very involved and active at Central.  Central does not give learners grades but instead the teachers involved with the learner writes a narrative about what the learner has experienced in the academic, social/emotional and arts environments.  The narratives provide parents with what the learner has worked on during the trimester, as well as what the learner will be focusing on for the next trimester.  During Parent/Teacher conferences, the learners take the lead and hold the conference providing their parents with valuable information about what they were able to succeed in during the trimester. The learner also develops goals for improvement for the next trimester.
