About This School

Summit Academy-Middletown is located in Middletown, OH and is in Summit Academy-middletown School District. It is a charter school that serves 92 students in grades 1-8.

Charter schools are public schools, but differ from traditional public schools in that they are independent and are operated by educators, parents, community leaders, educational entrepreneurs, or others. Funding for charter schools is based on designated local or state educational organizations. Those organizations are responsible for monitoring and assessing the quality and effectiveness of education, but permit the schools to operate outside of the traditional public school education system. See Summit Academy-Middletown's test results to learn more about school performance.

Summit Academy-Middletown Reviews

I agree with the previous review. This is not a good school for children with special needs. Academics are behind and teachers do not know how to conduct themselves. Operates more like a day care center than a school.

things went well our first round with summit And we thought things were going fairly well this time- not thrilling but workable and then now it has turned into a nightmare. Staff and teachers have said things to my child that there is no excuse for and is unacceptable My child came from a public school where she was bullied by fellow students/peers and now we have put her in a school where
in my opion, the bulling is coming from fellow students and the teachers. This is not acceptable!! They were good when we needed them the first couple of years but they have worn out  my welcome!!

Summit is a free charter school with several sites in Ohio, including the one my boy goes to in Middletown. This is one of the only schools in the COUNTRY that is designed to meet the needs of kids who are ADHD/ADD and high-functioning Aspergers - who often can't keep up with the one-size-fits-all public school system (particularly if they have difficulty processing oral instruction/information into something they have to write down). At Summit, your child won't be coming home with a homework sheet of 30 math problems; if you have an ADHD child, then you've probably been there, right? Just doesn't work for them. Summit however, does it right.  I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you check Summit's schools out. It has been a Godsend and a blessing for our boy.
