Toledo Preparatory and Fitness Academy

The school is under new administration and I think they have made great changes!  The teachers are great.  I will return next year.

Toledo Preparatory and Fitness Academy is a school where academic excellence and physical fitness is valued.  They have an excellent staff that is highly qualified.  The principal and staff work together as a team.  There is an active PTO and the school has had many successful fundraisers.  Students wear uniforms and charater education is taught.  There is an extended school day with an hour of fitness a day.  Students get to participate in fitness tournaments within the organization.  Toledo Prep's enrollment is currently growing due to their impressive program.  

       Toledo Prep and Fitness Academy does not have a strong parent teacher communication. They want the parents to plan fundraisers to get money for the school, but refuses to help out by communicating with other parents. They ask for volunteers in the classrooms, but when help is offered there are limits to what they can do to help or it is refused. They allowed a person without a high school diploma to teach a class instead of get an actual sub.
       They feel that reading, math and fitness are the most important parts of education. This school does not have the proper fitness program. The gym is one quarter the size of the other edvatages school's soccer field, which makes them unprepared to compete in competition. They have no tennis courts, and the gym is not equipped for safe martial arts training. They refuse to pay for a  librarian to get the library up to date and filled with interesting books that will help with reading. The school also refused to start a tutoring program that would be paid for by grants to help with both reading and math.
        In the past two years the safety of both the teachers and the students has been violated. There was a teacher stabbed with a pencil during class, the student was allowed to return to school and the teacher left because of that students return. A student was found with a dull steak knife in their possession. The student clained that he found it in the, but he was immediately expelled from teh school. Another instructor was bit by a student and was not disciplined, that instructor has yet been able to return because of health issues. Some students that act up in class are sent to the principle and can sit and read a book or help in other parts of the school till they a ready to go back to class. Other students walk out of class without permission and receive no discipline for their actions.
      I made the mistake of putting my children in this school for a year and a half. I even tried to help out. I warn all parents who are thinking about putting their child in this school. Don't!!
