John Ross Elementary School Reviews
I completely disagree with the most recent post. My children have been at John Ross elementary for 5 years and we've had a phenomenal experience. ALL public schools are experiencing overcrowding. In any district...I've had experience in other districts and this seems to be a problem anywhere in public education right now. To get a school with 900 children through car rider line quickly and safely is a daunting task. My children have been car riders ever since we started at the school and have participated on safety patrol. It is not as if the school does not want your child to buckle up. In fact, there is opportunity for you to pull your car up to the area in front of the marquee, just past the walk way, and wait for your child to buckle so that the line can continue to move in an orderly fashion. Many parents do so. I used to do so as well when my children were younger and unable to buckle themselves quickly. I also attend rise and shine in the gym frequently when volunteering. I have always experienced a positive program and noticed teachers welcoming their students. I agree the cafeteria is crowded with children trying to finish their breakfast but as I experience in my own house, getting children to finish their food in a timely fashion with their friends nearby can be difficult. The entire John Ross community has had to be quite flexible this year in light of all the construction going on but it will be well worth it next year. My children are challenged and have always had wonderful teachers who care.
School is overcrowded and focused on teach the test. At pick up you may not buckle your child, because it "takes too much time." I checked with the principal and this is, in fact, the policy. In the am, the children are packed in the gym/ caffeteria like sardines, and one of the teachers yells on a microphone for kids to finish eating. This is Edmond schools?
Outstanding school!!! Probably one of the best in OK.
