Dove Science Academy (Tulsa) is located in Tulsa, OK and is one of 87 schools in Tulsa School District. It is a charter school that serves 371 students in grades 6-12.
Charter schools are public schools, but differ from traditional public schools in that they are independent and are operated by educators, parents, community leaders, educational entrepreneurs, or others. Funding for charter schools is based on designated local or state educational organizations. Those organizations are responsible for monitoring and assessing the quality and effectiveness of education, but permit the schools to operate outside of the traditional public school education system.
Dove Science Academy (Tulsa) made AYP in 2009. Under No Child Left Behind, a school makes Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) if it achieves the minimum levels of improvement determined by the state of Oklahoma in terms of student performance and other accountability measures. The decision to leave Dove was a very difficult one for me as I loved the staff and administration and their strong support for me and the music program. After many prayers and thought, I decided to pursue this new calling in my life and go forward. I will miss you all and especially the kids, as we all know that Dove has the best students in the state! Please know that I will always remember my experience at Discovery/and Dove as very positive and will pass on the good news to others about the wonderful education that students receive through Dove Charter Schools. Wishing you much success in the 2011-2012 school year and beyond. Sincerely, Marti Law
