Harbor Lights Middle School Reviews
HLMS is a school that a parent should avoid. I agree that many of the teachers are out of date, but so are the schools policies. The staff members are more concerned about how they look, than how they affect the children. Bullying and haraasment is a huge issue in this school, yet the district states publicly that there is no problem. My own son won't complain to school officials about being bullied because the staff members make jokes and call the vicitms names. He states that it would be worse if he complained. When his father and I complained, we were told that our son was probably the problem, and then they called in all of the students involved, together. My son was made the whipping boy in front of students and staff members. His grades have slipped, and his teachers are now giving him a hard time. We are now looking to move out of town so that my son can attend another school. I have heard that there are some parents that are trying to change the policies, and behaviors of the school, but they themselvs are hitting a brickwall, and now their children are the targets. This is a sad sad school district and I can't believe that they've never been sued.
HLMS has a problem with out of date teachers and bullying. Not only does the bullies children, but staff members as well. The education, is poor, and when a child transfers to another school, they are often behind. Many teachers should have retired years before, and staff members that are not able to work elsewhere, work here. Very unsafe school
