I found that ATA was more concerned about their test scores and government funding. They also, treat the middle school students like little kids. In The mornings they keep 370 students in the gym not allowing them in the halls or go to their locker to prepare for class. When they're excused they have 4 minutes to herd like cattle out one door and get to class. At lunch they lock them outside. I guess it works for them. Their test scores have made a drastic jump.

Suzanne: ATA is a wonderful school. The administration (Jeff & Shadiin) is the best I have ever seen (of three 4-J schools for my children and my own K-12 experience). It is a dynamic school where teachers and administrators are open to new ideas but are solid in the basics (math, science, reading, writing) and creative with their art and technology skills. All the teachers know how to operate technology for the classroom and they earn the student's respect because of it. I have never seen this at any other school in Eugene. Technology is nicely balanced by the emphasis on hand art and Mr. Mosqueda with over 20 years of experience and a wonderful natural ease with children is phenomenal. We have experienced 1st, 2nd, and 6th grade teachers and all are impressive. Parent involvement is high and contributes creative, enthusiastic energy to the school. The student body is diverse and I like that my children are getting real life experience learning to work with kids from a variety of backgrounds. The school has an emphasis on creating a safe, supportive atmosphere of mutual respect and it works. The message comes from the top down as the leadership here is amazing. I highly recommend our school.
