New Hanover-Upper Frederick Elementary School

Michelle Warkentin: When my husband and I were looking into buying a new home, obviously the school district was extremely important to us.  We did a lot of asking around and research online before we made plans to buy our home in New Hanover.  I had called the school as soon as we found out our settlement date and made arrangements to get all of the paperwork to them.  The school had also invited my daughter in to visit her new teacher a few times so that the first day would not be a total shock.  My daughter has a learning disability and they have been awesome in accommodating her.  She has gone from an out of her classroom situation at her old school to in her classroom with peers all day at NHUF.  The teachers and staff have been terrific in praising her strengths and assisting her with her weaknesses.  She has truly come a very long way academically since her transfer.
