Blue Mountain Sda Elementary
Both of my children attended and graduated from BME and really enjoyed their educational experience here. Both were well prepared for high school as well as being balanced in their social, physical and spiritual development. In addition the emphasis on Christian principles has contributed to their being well grounded spiritually even in to young adulthood.

Students that have graduated from this school have demonstrated strong skills in leadership, study habits, and have done well when compared to students taking the Iowa test of Basic Skills. Unfortunately this school has had a core of parents that wanted to control all facets of the program which caused great disruption. With experienced staff, a smaller, less agenda driven board, and this core of disgruntled parents gone, BME is once again able to focus on impacting the lives of its students.

Happy Parent: Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but the severely negative ratings/reviews posted by a disgruntled parent do not resemble my personal experience. BME is an ever improving school with a solid track record of students who perform above the norm. Based on test results that the school can show you, the academic results are solid. That, however, is not the reason to choose BME over another private or public school. You should choose it because you value a holistic approach to education that is firmly rooted in Christ-centered principles. This is an education that helps lay the foundation of spiritual growth, ethics, reason, social development, Biblical knowledge, nature, and more...it helps the students to mature into well rounded individuals. I, for one, am thoroughly pleased with the education my children are receiving.

My Experience: BME is an awesome school. The proof of someone simply spreading slander is no proof at all. The reality is that BME has a proven track record (over 50 years) of nourishing well rounded students in both academics and spiritual areas. It is a school that uses a holistic philosophy, unlike a public school which focuses on a standardized test. Even so, the real statistics demonstrate that BME students matriculate into high school testing well above the norm of the public school. The students are not just academically sound, they have also been nourished through a Christ-centered approach in areas of Biblical knowledge, leadership, ethics, social development, and spiritual growth. The differences between the two systems are profound, I've witnessed the difference personally in my son. If you are considering an alternative for your children, you should visit the school and talk with some of the numerous parents who are thrilled with the education BME is providing for the students. There are lots of us, even if we haven't all felt the need to spend time writing reviews about our school.

Concerned Parent: It has been found, in the hamburg School District, that many children attending BME are educationally behind the public school standard. We know of several families that transferred to public school and their children needed help to catch up to the children's grade level. Beautiful school and nice teachers but not best education.

I would/could not recommend this school as an option for your child's education. I have had a child at BME, and unfortunately it was not a positive experience for my child, or for me as a parent, so we have made a family decision to go elsewhere. We look forward to an improved educational process, and will anticipate a school that provides stability, high quality academics, student assistance opportunities, and teacher-parent communication.

Charles Reid: We are so excited about BME. Our son is flourishing in the small classroom, interactive, spiritually focused environment. In our case, all discipline issues have been dealt with appropriately. He has excelled academically and we witness positive affects on his character. If you are looking for a loving, nurturing environment where your child can learn and grow up, this is a wonderful school to consider.

Our child's ITBS scores decreased considerably the year after join the school. There is no clearly defined discipline policy. Slightly disorganized; but, a spiritual atmosphere.
