Birchwood Middle School Reviews
Birchwood middle school is not a bad school, but some of the teachers are very mean to the kids and they don't even take time to explain any thing to the kids when it's come to projects.
I am watching the special on bullying as I work in a school with a lot of bullying - I tell students to try and resolve things in a non-violent manner - I think there should be a class on conflict resolution for high school students and a safe place to go to in these schools - more mentoring programs and ways to talk out problems...technology breeds ignorance and insecurities in people and we need to find some solutions to these problems.....bullying is about power and their are power in positive words and attitudes that could be taught to children at a young age.
Obvious these parents have no clue as to what is available at this school in regards to anti bullying. They have taken a great step at stopping bullying My daughter was bullied the first five years in North Providence school system and it took so great administrators to get the ball rolling. Did you get involved with the anti bullying group did you support them if not maybe you are part of the problem. Dont't you dare take credit away from the students who are a part of the solution because the deserve to be heard maybe it will help your childs future.
I have to chime in about the bullying here as well. I was equally shocked to see so much hype about how great their anti-bullying program was when so many children were either victims or involved in bullying others. I removed my son from this school after his first year, and he won't be going back. The teachers are too young to have so many students in a class alone, and are not invested psychologically in each child's development outside the academic realm.
I am very disappointed in the amount of publicity this school receives for its so called "No Bulling" policies with there being a lack there of. It brings tears to my eyes when I think about and picture what my son went through and how it was addressed. This school is very disorganized and is far behind in not having a website. Yes, teachers are not mean; some just don't care enough to make a difference in a student's learning years.
I agree this school is indeed a dirty school. The janitors don't know how to clean at all the floors are dirty and grimy its very nasty. Also the teachers are very mean and have no respect for some students. Birchwood definitely is not a good school but I guess it does it's job.
MY SON IS A STUDENT @ BIRCHWOOD . I THINK THE SCHOOL IS JUST FINE. THE TEACHERS ARE GREAT. CONTRARY TO WHAT WAS SAID IN THE PREVIOUS REVIEWS, TEACHERS ARE NOT MEAN THERE ARE JUST DOING THEIR JOB. STUDENTS NEED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY
I honestly think this is one of the worst schools in Rhode island. At least the teachers are anyway. Teachers ripping up your papers in front of your face because you made one mistake doesn't show that its a very nice school. Its a dirty school, the teachers are mean, the children are some of the most rotten spoiled creatures i have ever seen. I highly recommend replacing the teachers with some who actually care about all the students, instead of playing favorites and hating everyone else.
I think Birchwood Middle School need to give the children who do not have an IEp more help then they do. They think just because you are not elegible for an IEP you are not in need of serious help.
Birchwood is much more motivated in preventing bulling. The elementary schools are much more passive in their approach. I find that the teachers tend to have some untolarable rules ie not bathroom after lunch. But most of all I think my daughter is enjoying her first year in middle school alot.
