I have been extremely pleased with St. Dominic's Catholic School in Kingsport, TN. We are not Catholic but during my interviews with private institutions I found that St. Dominic's was warm, open and welcoming. The principal met with me and answered all my questions. There is a culture of excelling in academics at St. Dominic's. Teachers look to promote each student's individuality. Small class sizes mean each child gets individual attention! It also means that there is no opportunity for bullying. The teachers here are very open to working with students and parents. (When my daughter went to Knoxville to the Regional Spelling Bee, her teacher travelled down to support her!) As a certified, independent school St. Dominic's students take the IOWA test which qualifies them to participate in further educational programs such as "DUKE Tip" . After being with the school for 2 years, I truly feel my children are loved and that they're getting an extremely high-quality education. If you are considering a private school option for your child, you do not need to look any further than St. Dominic's Catholic School in Kingsport, TN!

We are pleased at how our child continues to grow both academically AND spiritually at St. Dominic School. The teachers, staff, & parents are supportive & work hard to educate our child in all these aspects of child development. What we are so excited about is the spiritual role model our child is becoming!... due to St. Dominic's Catholic Education and our (parental)support in this endeavor.

We have two children at St. Dominic's and they are receiving a superior education. Small class size, dedicated teachers and high levels of parent involvement make this school a real treasure.

I have two students at St. Dominic School. My boys are in 1st and 4th grades. They started in the Pre-K program, which is excellent preparation for Kindergarten. The teachers are fantastic and bring out the best in each student. The small class sizes provide the opportunity for individual attention. The curriculum is challenging and includes traditional elements (math facts, cursive writing) with up-to-date technology in each classroom. The music and art classes are amazing - the students have wonderful opportunities to express themselves! Our boys are thriving at St. Dominic School. They are growing in their faith every day. Traditional values are alive and well at St. Dominic School. I highly recommend St. Dominic School!

We have a 2nd grader at St. Dominics and are very happy with the school. We switched our son from public school when he was in Kindergarten as we quickly saw the open classroom format was not suited to his learning style. We have had excellent teachers so far who challenge students at their level with an outstanding curriculum. The familial atmosphere and parental involvement cannot be overlooked--our son loves to go to school! We are looking forward to three more great years.

We love St. Dominic's. Our daughter has been there now for 2 years and we have seen her excel during her time there. The teachers are excellent. While there is significant focus on the academics, we have found that St. Dominic's also focuses on teaching mutual respect for other students, care and kindness. This is something not always found in our public school systems but is much needed. We highly recommend St. Dominic's.

We love this school! Our daughter is excelling. She has more experiences and opportunities than in her local public school. And she gets to pray! Best education decision we have made.

Exceptional academics! Nothing better than small classes with dedicated teachers to challenge our girls. Our oldest dissected a sheep heart and is preparing for the spring science fair. We think the near universal parental involvement is unique and so helpful. We highly recommend you consider St. Dominic.

Some good points but overall is really struggling and Parish is divided in its support of the school. Academics are good but not superior to what is available in public school. Enrollment numbers have been low enough for diocese to consider closing the school, although parents and teachers have been trying very hard to make needed improvements.
They seem afraid to tackle one of its most substantive problems, which is poor leadership from the principal.

St. Dominic is a school filled with love and individual attention. They teach Christian values and expect children to be well-behaved and respectful. This equates to lots of great teaching and learning time in the classroom.

St. Dominic School is wonderful. We transferred our daughter there this year from one of the local public elementary schools. The smaller class size and more rigorous academic program is perfect for her. In addition to core academics, the school offers art, music, gym, choir, health, keyboarding, and religion classes.
