Bearden Middle School Reviews
Bearden Middle Students and staff have worked hard to prove to our community at large that we are a school that challenges all learners. Bearden Middle did in fact make AYP for the 2008-2009 school year and we are awaiting results for the 2009-2010 year. So far our preliminary results are looking very favorable.
Two yeas ago we met AYP overall but failed to make enough progress with one small group of students. This group made substantial progress the following year but a different group failed to make enough progress. Because we were granted Title I status, we must have two consecutive years of positive growth overall and with all subgroups. We anticipate achieving this goal this year. Title I status is independent of a school's scores and is determined by the percent of students who qualify for free and reduced lunch. Title I schools are privileged to have more funds to offer various tutoring, professional development and focused programs to improve student learning. Bearden is a great place to work and learn.
