When I first started going to Craigmont I didn't think I would like the school that much. In fact I claimed the school I wanted to attend instead. I have learned that Craigmont has provided me with oppurtunities I highly doubt the school I wanted to attend could provide. Yes we have a few rough students, but who doesn't. While attending Craigmont I have accomplished many things. For example I have won the WIlliam H. Sweet Award twice in a row now. I also applied and got accepted into the prep program and Memphis Bar Associaition to be a law intern. I have passed, in my opinion, one of the most difficult teachers in Memphis City School, legendary Mr.Cook. The teachers here are not to blaim if students are not achieving the same things I have because they are rewarded the same oppurtunities and are getting taught the same way I am. Another good thing about Craigmont is even though the students appear rough, they are actually friendly. I started my first year knowing no one, but ended with many friends.
my son will be going to Craigmont High this coming school year and I am very nervous about his attending this school. I have seen the way the students seem to hang around after school and wonder why we do not have anymore police officers making sure these students do not get involved with gang initiations! I am a very concerned parent!!
