Bowie High School Reviews
My education at Bowie
I attended Bowie High School at the former Location that is on Arbrook, Which I do believe is now called Workman Junior High. In my last year in the late 1970's early 80's, the school was still fairly new and were was no need for police or even teachers walking the halls. We were young adults and acted like we were. In my last year of school there the situation changed. You were not allowed in the building until after the bell rang in the morning and teacher walked the walls looking for problems. I have no idea what changed from my Junior year to my senior year but there was writing on the bathroom walls that was not there the year before and it felt like I was in prison and not a educational facility where we learn to be young responsible adults. I was so glad I was in my late year of high school and not my first.
The teachers were the best and the facility was built from information provided by the teaching staff in Arlington to meet the needs of the different departments and students. It was an great place to learn. I was heart broken when they school board moved the school to a different location.
Graduate of 2006, Awesome School. I got so much experience with all kinds of people. Some kids wanna be tough but ultimately everybody is cool with one another, unless your gang affiliated or have a bad attitude.
There is no need for more security because the APs are strict. Great teachers. I Would love to teach there.
Fights, assaults at school and at sporting events. Only one police officer at school of over 3,000 students. The parents are not informed of the crime on school premises. I feel that safety and security are not priorities at this school.
