Andress High School Reviews

By , a Former Student on

Awful when I attended nearly twenty years ago and still awful now. Teachers were arrogant and intimidating (one used me as a servant to water his plant and I had to grovel and beg him to allow me to fetch my Economics book from his class after I forgot it in my desk). He's still there!!! And completely lax in their positions as instructors (was supposed to study "The Scarlet Letter"  but teacher couldn't be bothered to have us read it-- she had us watch the movie and write a summary instead!) and role models--they couldn't or wouldn't handle the bad apples. Gangs ruled and in one class, the teacher literally allowed him to take over--no wonder I failed the TAAS test three times! Bullies were allowed to torment students (me) in class while my science teacher stood not more than six feet away. The school is chaotic and disorganized. I was bullied everyday for three years, I dropped out in my senior year as I couldn't take it any more. The school is lacking in creativity, encouraging learning environment, and quite frankly is a prime example of what's wrong in our schools today. Encourage your child to get out as soon as possible. At least at EPCC you don't have to worry about bullies and you might actually learn something!
